March 7th, 2011
MISSING PERSON - UW STUDENT
On March 6th, 2011 at approximately 4:00 p.m., UWPD was notified that a female UW student was reported as missing. The 18 year old student, Marizela Perez was last seen on Saturday, March 5th when she departed her Rainer Beach home headed for the UW Seattle Campus. Indications are that she may have taken the light rail train en-route to the University District area. Marizela was scheduled to be in classes today on the UW Seattle Campus, but she failed to attend. There are also indications that Marizela may have been in the University District shopping late Saturday afternoon, March 5th, around 4 p.m.
The Seattle Police Department has taken a missing persons report, and along with the University of Washington Police Department is actively searching for Marizela.
Marizela Perez is described as 5’5” tall, 110-120 lbs, brown hair in a short “bob” hairstyle, brown eyes, with a Tagalog language tattoo on her left inner arm. She may be wearing green contact lenses. She was last wearing light colored jeans, a dark jacket with a hood and brown suede boots.
This case is being investigated by the Seattle Police Department under case number 11-75111.
If you have any information about Marizela’s whereabouts, the Seattle Police Department has asked that you call 911.”Publishing for the update. This young woman is still missing.

The photo above ended up being the central image in the poster. It shows a woman holding a mirror with ‘somos violadores’ (‘we are rapists’) written across it. In the mirror’s reflection, you can see a line of federal riot police and an armored personnel carrier down the block. Women spontaneously organized this action when report after report surfaced that sexual assault was being systematically used by police as one of their tactics to destroy the movement. Women stood in front of advancing squads of riot police and forced them to look into mirrors with messages about sexual assault written across their own reflections.
